In December 2007 five of Britain’s best loved artists agreed to take on the challenge of producing portraits of modern day sporting heroes - their goal, to raise as much money as possible for Sport Relief.

Sport Portraits documented a unique fundraising event for Sport Relief, airing on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th March 2008, 10.35pm, BBC ONE.

The two part documentary followed the journey of five artists as they looked beyond the public image of three sporting heroes to capture the personality: godfather of pop art Sir Peter Blake and political caricaturist Gerald Scarfe took on Ricky Hatton; best selling Scottish artist Jack Vettriano and the A-list celebrities' favourite photographer Rankin captured Zara Phillips, whilst Didier Drogba faced wild child of art Stella Vine.
